Educational Background

Dr. W. Michael Myles graduated with honours from the University of Ottawa School of Medicine. After completing the highly coveted fellowship program in ophthalmic pathology at McGill University, he undertook specialist training in ophthalmology at Dalhousie University in Halifax.

Refractive Experience

Returning to Ottawa in 1993, Dr. Myles established a thriving surgical ophthalmology practice and has performed thousands of surgical procedures of various kinds including a wide variety of laser techniques, and clear lens extractions for high myopia. As a staff surgeon at the Ottawa Hospital, Dr. Myles has one of the highest volume cataract practices in the Ottawa area and is regarded as one of the city’s top eye surgeons.

Accomplishments and Awards

Dr. Myles has made regular contributions to the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology and held the Chair of Publications of the Canadian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery for many years.
He has traveled to Africa and India to perform laser procedures and cataract surgery and regularly attends and speaks at a variety of annual ophthalmological conferences.
